George L. JACKSON
George Jackson was born May 19, 1945 in Clarksdale
Mississippi to parents Leroy Jackson Sr. and Ozella (Stimage)
Jackson. He departed this life on July 12, 2014 at the Hospice
of Dayton, George's parents and four siblings, Harry, Ronnie,
Arthur, and Lillie Jackson preceded him in death.
At the age of 8 George with his family moved to
Pontiac Michigan. George was a graduate of Pontiac Central High
School, and received his bachelor's and Master's degrees from
Oakland University. After success as a teacher and occupational
therapist he settled into a career as a juvenile probation officer.
George was a man of faith and came to not only believe,
but knew and developed his relationship with his Lord and Savior.
George's passion was writing. He loved the written
word and dedicated a generous amount of time to his craft, successfully
publishing three books, a book of poetry, a book of short stories
and a novel. At the time of his death he was working on his first
graphic novel.
Later in life George found the love of his life
his wife Johnnie (Smith) Jackson. From George's first marriage
his only child Kyra (Javier) was born. He leaves to honor and
cherish his memory his wife Johnnie Jackson, his daughter Kyra
(Javier) Rivera of Mableton, Georgia, three grand children, Javier
2, Miguel and Amaya. Siblings: Emma (Carey) Jackson of Pontiac,
Michigan, Altha (Don) Barber of Pontiac, Michigan, Leroy Jackson
of Pontiac, Michigan, and Charles (Diane)Jackson of Evans, Georgia.
The daughter and grandchildren he gained from his union with Johnnie:
Kalisha Smith, Johnesha, Jamaria and Jamika Graham all of Dayton,
Ohio. A host of half-sisters, brothers; nieces, nephews, cousins,
in-laws and beloved friends. He will be greatly missed.
